Inspirations

February

My two most favorite and inspiring quotes of the month:

  • “Sometimes I can feel my bones straining under the weight of all the lives I’m not living”              ― Jonathan Safran Foer

This quote, in my opinion, ties a lot into LA, specifically reading or writing stories. When reading, the imagery and the characters are embedded in our minds and offer us an opportunity to escape the harsh reality. A story is like a roller-coaster; it goes through twists and turns, with us, the audience, buckled onto the front seats, screaming, yelling, or even passed out. But at the end of the ride, it’s all over; the fear is overcome, and joy overtakes our hearts. Similarly, I find myself surrounded by emotions, suspense, and feel like the main character, but it’s unfortunate that I can’t read as many stories in my free time to enjoy these unique adventures.

  • “The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.” ― Vidal Sassoon

We all know success cannot be achieved without at least some hard work being put in. Unfortunately, we have started becoming very lazy trying to leave things until the very end, also known as procrastination. Even I was once like this person, but slowly I have started correcting my ways and slightly improving. Instead of being lazy or procrastinating, we should put in our fullest ability and do the work as best as possible in the time we get to achieve good results.

March

The quote that has moved me a lot in this month:

“Hold fast to dreams,

For if dreams die

Life is a broken-winged bird,

That cannot fly.”

Langston Hughes

This quote reminds me of many times I sat in class and the teachers used to say “Don’t always keep dreaming”. But when I read this quote it reminds me that half of my life I have been asleep and most of that time I have been dreaming, so considering this, I have spent almost half of my life dreaming. Dreaming is what shapes reality and aspires us to become the better of ourselves. Many popular movies, search engines and theories had first come in the dreams of their future creators. For example google and the general theory of relativity by Einstein were first encountered in their dreams. Now in today’s world almost everyone uses google and depend on it: from a student to a professor. A simple dream evolved into shaping the world. For me dreams are more than just the unconscious part of the brain, and in the past they have helped me overcome many problems.

April

The quote that has moved me a lot in this month:

“Time isn’t the main thing. It’s the only thing.”

 ― Miles Davis

This quote has touched me a lot and I will probably never ever forget this quote ever in my whole life. Its true. Time is everywhere and yet we fail to realize how precious it is. We all have probably at least once gone through a lecture from either our parents or one of our teachers, and throughout this lecture we don’t extract any key information about time and just make fun of the person advising us or just ignore him/her the whole time. But on the other hand we don’t realize that they have sacrificed their precious time after us, and we take all this for granted. Time is gold or maybe even more precious. The main moral that I have obtained through this inspirational quote is that if we lose grasp of time, we lose grasp of everything else. So we must maintain and keep track of time in order to achieve perfection of the daily tasks we take part in.

May/June

My inspiring quote of the month:

“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”

― Kurt Vonnegut

The first thing that this quote reminded me, was of a young child dreaming. If this child dreams of something negative, he will be in an environment that will promote this negativity. As long as this negativity is promoted, this young kid’s mind will feed on it and soon will grow up to encounter himself as a negative tyrant. As young kids try out different things, their mind tends to set on something; whether it’s positive or negative. As these kids fix their goals, they start preparing for them; the same thing they pretended to be as they were young. As your mind grows, it will grow into negativity and become corrupt, until you pose a threat to people around you. So the main thing I got from this quote was to surround yourself with positive people in a positive environment so that all you know of is positivity and you will start to embrace it.
